Good place to be

I'm finally in a good place. I am "fully staffed" and am loving my job. Some managers it takes much longer to get here. I suppose it's because my branch is smaller than some, but non-the-less...the hard work is done and I'm reaping the rewards now! Whew!

Meetings

Why do we have them? Is it to get to see everyone face to face...or is it because they don't think we read e-mail communications? I just get a bit frustrated when I spend 4 hours in the car for a 4 hour meeting. Ugh.

Behind the Back

You know, there are some things that just shouldn't be said to one's face. But sometimes it sucks to hear it second hand...especially when someone is "nice" to your face. Part of being the boss I suppose.

Employees

Ya know, I guess I've always taken for granted the hiring process. It's SO important. I came into my branch with a full staff hired for me. Now I'm realizing, not everyone is going to "work out". It's funny how the attitude of the branch can change when different people are off.

I have realized now, that I need to push those "bad attitudes" out of my branch and hire the staff that will have a good attitude every day. I never thought I'd have to "go there", but apparently, I do...and I've talked to other managers and regionals, who all say the same thing. Hire your own staff. LOL.

Formalities

I realize there are procedures in place for a reason...but sometimes, I find them to be counter-productive.

If there is more than one way of doing something, and one way uses less time...let's do it that way. Sometimes, procedures may take 5 minutes or so longer, but it's the right way to do it...and I understand that...no conflict there.

But when "the right way" takes 90 minutes to complete, and another (ethical) way could take about 10-12 minutes to complete...I would like to opt for the alternate way.

But hey, I just do what I'm told...regardless of salary expense.

Babysitter

I have found, that in my industry, I work with a lot of young employees. Many, of lesser maturity than myself. Sometimes, I feel like I am a babysitter...and they are stomping their feet when I tell them "no".

I love my job, don't get me wrong...but this is something that's always hard to get used to...

My Boss

I love my boss. She's the greatest. I don't think I could ask for a better regional. She's amazing. You should all be as lucky.
